Yes, a few more swirls and curls to wind down the week. Here I want to ponder the edge that makes the visual swirl in a three dimensional form. It’s a chance to consider that there’s texture on every side of the clay.<\/p>\n

A strip of clay has a front and back … and a side. The side, although difficult to texturize with any impact of its own, can create a texture itself. And if you do add texture to the thin side and then compound that texture by, say, rolling it up to create a texture in form, you can develop a very rich effect.\u00a0Tanya Mayorova<\/a>\u00a0does this with a technique to develop a ragged edge texture that even with very muted colors comes across as quite dynamic.<\/p>\n
