Complimenting Brooches

Loretta Lam has an obvious influence of nature in her work. These pins reminded me not so much of microscopic cellular formations as the growth of micro-organisms on plants and rocks. They naturally complement the pod and leaf forms and their surface patterns.

They do have an organic feeling. And I’m constantly amazed (and I shouldn’t be by now) at how very little features can make such a difference in an item – like the ever so slim (that matters) strip of multicolored (that matters) burgundy that follows the peak (that matters) only partway (that matters) on the one broach. Lovely, all.
